The South Bank Centre –the world's largest cultural centre- invited us to submit proposals for a temporary venue for the Royal Festival Hall during its refurbishment works. We provided a fully costed design-build solution with Edwin Shirley Staging which would enable a greater artistic range of possibilities (e.g. spatialised music) than the existing hall, and would have resolved the severe pedestrian circulation problems affecting the site (from Charing Cross to Waterloo), with a new foyer deck overlooking the River Thames and a link to Jubilee gardens which could also serve as an outdoor stage.
