Our Château d'Hardelot Elizabethan Theatre opened on June 24th 2016 to global media acclaim. For Le Moniteur the building is 'a masterpiece, in the manner of the Guggenheim Bilbao, but for a fraction of the cost.' Vandalised for political reasons just before its inauguration, this act elicitied worldwide coverage and a declaration of outrage from the French Minister of Culture and Communication, Audrey Azoulay. Covered in mainstream national media in 12 countries and widely analysed in professional journals and schools around the world, responses have centred on the building's ecological ambitions and its combination of contemporary design with a timeless form. It has been singled out as the most important wood construction in France in 2016, and has been presented in keynote presentations at major industry conferences including the Holzbau Forum.
