THE FOCAL SEAT is designed to augment contact between two people without recourse to technology. It takes the sound that is already there and makes it lush, enveloping, precise, intimate, more real.

It is made for lounging in the home, for the office, for a moment of family intimacy within a busy space, for focused communication and clarity across a table for working or eating. It also protects visually and makes a cocoon - a live, responsive cocoon, a room within a room. A sound-room for intensifying perception of a dawn chorus or a Bach sonata.
 
Crafted in steam-bent solid oak or layered, pressure-formed veneer sheets, the range of chairs for single or double occupancy draw on contemporary techniques of 3D veneer or millennial craft practices used in making oak barrels. They have relaxed or upright seating positions, and accommodate 90 per cent of human height variations.
