The building's construction had two distinct phases - above and below ground. A ring of sheet piles was set to minus 10 metres around the building permieter, then excavated and built up to with a site-cast concrete structure (housing technical and backstage facailities, as well as public toilets). Above ground the structure was essentially wooden (with some steel support members for the roof and balcony fronts). The curved CLT structure was assembled by a crew of 3 in less than 2 months.
