Office High-Rise in Wood
As part of our general consultancy for Danish builders and developers NCC we looked into the question of optimal form for high-rise wood office buildings. Based on short spans and simple structural configurations, this project explores two versions of a three-part structure, one symmetrical, the other with slipping between the elements in plan.
Taking advantage of the high amplitude of insolation in northerly climates, the building’s facades are intended to be responsive to a wide range of natural lighting levels, with large-format wooden venetian blinds in a double-skin façade able to open up entirely and both close down to a conventional spandrel dimension in case of strong sunlight. The building would be diaphanous and mutable, putting its wooden bones and skin on display.
